Had dinner here this weekend for a nice night out. Food was beyond amazing! The staff was very knowledgeable about their dishes and specials. We ended up with Tuna Tartar, Stuffed Figs wrapped in bacon with salad, and Asparagus with roasted red pepper puree topped with prosciutto for an appetizer. I had a veal chop that was out of this world, my fiancée had seared duck breast, and we finished it off with a slice of delicious carrot cake and decaf cappuccinos. Everything was absolutely incredible, couldn't recommend it more for a nice night out!
We've been here 5 times now. Three times for dinner and twice for private events. It has been a consistently great experience. The duck dishes have always been my favorite but everything we've ordered has been delicious. The fish specials are great if I'm trying to make healthier choices or the braised short rib if we're feeling more indulgent. The well thought out combinations of proteins, sauces, and sides make every bite feel rich and balanced. This is the kind of place where weeks later you still find yourself talking about a dish and saying, "remember that meal we had there?" The staff has always been very friendly and helpful. The pacing of apps and mains was perfect every time. Staff was very attentive, knowledgeable about the menu and anticipated our needs which made everything feel effortless. The interior has a warm, intimate feel. It strikes a good balance of being comfortable enough to be a regular night out while still feeling special enough for an occasion. Cozy enough to get to know someone better even if there's a large group nearby. For warm nights they also have a patio. A few tips: Don't park in the front on N Maple Ave, the entrance is in the back. Turn down 1st St and pull into the first parking lot on the left. If you forget it's BYOB, there is a wine store next door. If you don't drink they have interesting mocktails. If it's a day people tend to celebrate, make reservations ahead of time. Not cheap, but the quality of the food and experience exceeds the price.
A Culinary Gem in Ho-Ho-Kus – A Must Visit! I recently had the pleasure of dining at St. Eve’s and it was truly a phenomenal experience from start to finish. The ambiance is warm, elegant, and intimate — perfect for a relaxing evening out. The food was absolutely exceptional. The pork chop was juicy, tender, and bursting with flavor — beautifully complemented by rich sauces and elegant sides. The appetizer featuring prosciutto, arugula, and fresh fruit was light, refreshing, and artfully balanced. To top it all off, the tiramisu was nothing short of phenomenal — airy, rich, and flawlessly executed. Easily one of the best I’ve had. The service was impeccable, and the BYOB option made the evening even more enjoyable, allowing us to pair our favorite wine with this incredible meal. Hats off to Chef Stefan Ondrus and the entire St. Eve’s team — this place is a true standout. I can’t wait to return and try more from their inspired menu.
Stefan the new chef has a wonderful restaurant here with fantastic delicacies to choose from. Standouts are his Tuna sushi on rice cakes with caviar. Amazing. Also the steak frites with truffle fries and the tuna carpaccio...just wow. Stefan also had a delicious tapas served as appetizers a few weeks ago with anchovies and other types of seafood served on toasted baguettes. He is friendly and engaging and a great addition to the Ho-Ho-Kus dining scene. Bought St Eves from the previous owners about 2 years ago. Go and Enjoy!
First time at the restaurant and the experience was to remember. 5 stars ⭐️ all way from the atmosphere to the staff to the chef to the service…… everything. We met the chef/new owner who came himself to our table to ask about our experience and about the food, it shows that he does not take his clients and their requirements for granted. The food was absolutely out of this world. We are definitely coming back.
